I always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up…” A passion for medicine has accompanied Dr. Franceschini since he was very young, and thus he chose to be an orthopedist, following his passion with determination.

He started along the long path by obtaining a degree with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the Università degli Studi di Milano and specializing with honors in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the same university.

He continued his training at prestigious centers of excellence around the world: from the Endoklinik in Hamburg (clinic specialized in prosthetic surgery and the cure of periprosthetic infections), to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and the Mayo Clinic of Rochester (MN), the two main orthopedic centers in the United States.

His experiences abroad helped him not only to reach a higher level of scientific knowledge and professionalism, but also created important personal and professional relationships with foreign colleagues with whom he is in constant contact and collaborates with on clinical studies and research.

Actively involved in the national and international scientific community, Dr. Franceschini often participates as a speaker or moderator at the most prestigious conventions in the Orthopedic-Traumatology field.

He is also a Adjunct Professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano.

In 2013 he participated, as the Italian delegate, at the “Consensus meeting on PJI” held in Philadelphia and from which were published the world guidelines on the diagnosis, prophylaxis and treatment of periprosthetic infections.

Since 2011, he has approached regenerative medicine for the cure of joint and muscular-tendon pathologies with excellent results, especially as an alternative to surgery, in the case that it is not feasible.

Always looking for innovation, he feels that the mini-invasive approach to surgery can play a fundamental role, not only by providing a faster post-surgery recovery but also in optimizing long-term results.  He utilizes mini-invasive techniques both in prosthetic surgery and in traumatology.

Currently, Dr. Franceschini works at the Istituto Ortopedico “Gaetano Pini” in Milano.  Founded in 1874 it is one of the oldest and most prestigious European Orthopedic Centers.  He also visits privately at the Centro Ortopedico Riabilitativo.

Dr. Franceschini is particularly inclined to utilize new technologies to obtain the best results in the cure of joint diseases of the hip and knee and in particular in young and active patients, utilizing both surgical and non-surgical treatments. He works to match each patient’s treatment to their specific needs. Dr. Franceschini is particularly adept at minimally invasive surgery both in the orthopedic field (prosthetic surgery) and in traumatology.
